West Deer

West Deer Township is a suburban community in Allegheny County, located about 20 miles north of Pittsburgh. The township covers roughly 28.87 square miles and had a population of 12,262 as of the 2020 census. West Deer traces its roots to 1836, when it split off from the original Deer Township — itself named for Chief Deer, a sub-chief under Iroquois leader Guyasuta.
